An interesting tour. Definitely a worthwhile visit when in Rome. About 1 and half mile walk outside city walls or take the 118 bus. Guide provided facts in an engaging way.

Great tour. Short but very worth it. Tour group for English was very large and the group after us was the same. It would have been better if the group (over 35 people) was split in two tours. Despite this our guide was awesome and really funny. I highly recommend making the journey (usually two buses from central Rome).

We visited San Calixto catacombs and it was a very good experience, both for the guide’s explanations and for the possibility of seeing the walls, the spaces, the huge corridors... all with our own eyes. Don’t forget to wear a coat, hat and gloves with you since it’s a bit cold down there and don’t let nobody tell you how it feels to breath that ancient air...

Our time on the tour was less than 40 minutes and we were constantly being pushed by the group behind us. Regrettably, our guide spoke very broken english making it hard to understand everything he said

Unfortunately, as we don’t know the date and the time of your tour, we cannot check who was your tour guide and find out what went wrong. Statistically, none of our English speaking male guides finishes a tour in less than 40 minutes. Although, you have to consider that part of the tour is also the historical introduction that is given over ground, where the group can be gathered more easily than in the galleries. Finally, if you were constantly pushed by the group behind you, we can suppose that at the time you visited the catacombs there were a lot of groups and some sort of “traffic jam.” In those situations, groups cannot move too fast and they need much more time than usual to complete the tour.
