Hmm...we can’t seem to find this place. Please check the spelling, or choose another location.

This activity will end right where it started.***Pickups start 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to tour time.*** Please be outside or near the main entrance where you have a visible line of sight of the designated transportation area. The driver will be picking up from multiple stops in a 30 minute window. If the bus is not there at first, please keep an eye out for a white shuttle bus with a red logo. Note: THIS TOUR DOES NOT INCLUDE TRANSPORTATION UNLESS YOU SELECT THE OPTION WITH TRANSPORT.
Choose a morning or afternoon tour and meet your airboat at the embarkation point in the town of Lafitte, an historic fishing village named for notorious 19th‐century pirate and privateer Jean Lafitte, located approximately 30 miles (48 km) from New Orleans. Prearranged coach pickup is also available from your downtown New Orleans or French Quarter hotel. Hotel pickups begin 75 minutes prior to your chosen tour time.

Upon arriving at the airboat launch site, board a large airboat holding 15 to 25 passengers or a small airboat limited to six to eight passengers. Hold on tight as your airboat takes off into the tidewater cypress swamp near Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Enjoy close proximity to the water from your seat in the flat‐bottomed airboat. As you zip through the bayou, check out signature cypress trees dripping with moss and massive tupelo‐gum tree rising straight from the water.

Depending on the season, you may spot alligators basking in sun on the shore or lurking in the water. Rest assured that the swamps are teeming with wildlife year‐round. Spot turtles, snakes, raccoons, nutria and many native birds –  you may even spot a bald eagle!

Your airboat tour ends at the embarkation point. Before leaving this iconic Cajun town, pop into the local albino alligator exhibit or grab a delectable shrimp Po' boy to go (own expense). Then drive or board your coach back to New Orleans. Note: This tour does not include hotel pick‐up or drop‐off unless hotel pickup and drop‐off is selected at checkout. If you have selected hotel pickup and drop‐off please specify your hotel details at the time of checkout or advise the local operator directly after booking.
Itinerary
Pass By:
Mississippi River
Drive-out along the Mississippi River approximately 30 miles (48 km) to the embarkation point of your airboat from your New Orleans hotel. Depending on the option you selected, board a large airboat holding 15 to 25 passengers or a small airboat limited to six to eight passengers for a more intimate, personalized experience.
Stop At:
Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve
Set out on a 1 hour and 45 minute tour on a 20,000-acre (8,095-hectare) tract of tidewater cypress swamp close to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Your airboat is powered by an aircraft propeller to allow a fast, fluid trip through the shallow marshes. Feel the wind on your face as you zip into bayous lined with mossy cypress and tupelo-gum trees. Prepare to see plenty of alligators in the warmer months (and warmer days in winter), some of which may be out sunning themselves on rocks! Your guide may even feed the gators, affording amazing photo opportunities. Keep your eyes open for turtles, snakes, egrets, herons and ibis. You may even catch sight of a hawk, owl or bald eagle. In the cooler months, look for white-tailed deer, raccoons and the large rodents known as nutria. Be sure to check out the indoor exhibits of alligators, including an albino alligator. Note: This tour does not include hotel pick-up or drop-off unless option selected at checkout.

Ok Airboat Tour

The swamp was beautiful and the alligators were fun watch up close. We chose to do a private small airboat tour. The airboat ride was a new adventure for us, but not as fast as we wanted it would be. Our guide was not able to talk while the boat was in motion due to noise, but when stopped he didn't have a lot of information to share...although very comfortable around gators. He kept asking us if we had questions, but was not great at filling in the gaps to keep it interesting. Based on the price we paid, we expected the guide to share more.

Our tour guide was awesome. Saw about 4 different alligators. They were on the smaller side but still fun to see. The airboat was really fun and we got sprinkled with water from time to time.

The ride was 20 minutes and I was terrified for half of it. We were in the water with a thunderstorm. Lighting and thunder all around us.

We chose the option for the bus to pick us up from the hotel. Super convenient and we got to see so much on our way. Our guide Steve was amazing. He was funny, he was knowledgeable and he knew exactly where to take us to see the gators. We seen a few smaller baby ones and we also got to see close to a 12 ft one! But that's not all we were able to see! I got really good pictures of an owl, spiders, raccoons, turtles, and dragonflies. I would highly recommend the small airboat ride because it was much more intimate and you really got to know the people around you and talk to your guide. Thank you guys for such an amazing experience I will never forget!!

Kenny our boat driver made the experience so much fun! A little bad weather caused a delay and the communication on the wasn’t great but all work out and I’m glad we were able to get out there. It started to rain while we were out and I didn’t mind being wet but flying down the bayou with those rain drops hitting you was no fun. Otherswise definitely worth adding to your visit!! And we got to see several gators.

Do it! Ask for Steve!

Definitely do the small boat tour. Our guide, Steve, was amazing and really tailored the experience to us in the boat. Great scenery and the smaller boat could go where the bigger boats couldn’t. This had us sitting, engine off, in the quiet of the bayou and really feeling immersed. Absolutely fantastic. We even commented that we would immediately go again if Steve was our guide. High, highly recommend.
