Highlights of the West Pearl River

1. Seeing all the camps of different styles all along the river where we traveled on the tour 2. The tour took us up a bayou where we seen a wild hog who met us along the bank of the bayou. The boat captain threw march mellows at the hog and the hog jumped into the air to catch the march mellows. We also seen a large racoon and the boat captain also threw marsh mellows to the racoon. 3. We entered one bayou that had many large cypress trees. One of the trees had many cypress knees surrounding it and the boat captain said this ltree was about 600 years old, he called it old growth cypress. The boat captain gave detailed discussions on what were were seeing as we traveled the West Pearl River and the Honey Island Swamp

Our trip was an amazing experience, our tour guide captain Mark was a very knowledgeable guide we saw many gators from the smallest to the biggest which appeared to be around 12 feet. He was an old guy and a little intimidating. We also saw wild hogs, and several different species of water fowl. It was great way to spend a few hours and I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Captain Kyle was great, giving Los of interesting information on our tour. The boat was easy to get in and out of and the tour was fun. My daughters especially enjoyed the up close encounters with a raccoon and wild pig thanks to the marshmallows!

These people are great to deal with. They are very accommodating. The swamp was absolutely beautiful and we got to go about ten miles into it in the boat. After we returned home I asked the kids what they liked best in New Orleans and they agreed it was the swamp tour.

Even though there were no gators this trip, we did see plenty of birds, raccoons, and wild hogs. The day was crisp and chilly at 62 degrees. Tony knew the lay of the river and was knowledgeable about the waters since he grew up on them.
