Cinque Terre is one of Italy’s most captivating landscapes. Translated as ‘five lands,’ the region is made up of five unique fishing villages that line the Italian Riviera.

Your day trip begins in central Florence, where meet your guide and hop aboard your coach to head out toward the seashore. Stop first in the southernmost village of Riomaggiore, which dates back to the 13th century. Beloved for its local wine and incomparable scenery, admire the pastel-colored buildings as you follow your guide along the cobblestone streets.

Head to the tiny village of Manarola next, home to medieval relics and a plethora of grapevines. Stroll the harbor and take snapshots of the beautiful, bright buildings that cling to the cliff.

Then, weather permitting, hop aboard your boat to travel to Monterosso. If you choose to include lunch with your ticket, settle down in one of the village’s restaurants for a traditional helping of seafood and pasta, complemented by wine and water. (A sample menu can be found in the Itinerary section.)

Afterward, with taste buds and stomach sated, enjoy some time to explore independently. Unpack your bathing suit and hit the jeweled waters of Monterosso’s stunning beaches.

Make a final stop in Vernazza, bordered by terraced olive groves that are said to produce some of the finest olive oil in Italy. Explore the bustling square and winding streets at your leisure, before returning back to Florence.

Note: Cinque Terre low-cost option does not include train and boat tickets.

Expeditious and poor service ! Go on your own

Organisation very poor . No sign at the terminal where to meet .. when a young lady finally showed up at 6:55 am with departure at 7 her fuschia t-shirt read Ciao Florence and not Viator. The guide was very expeditious ! I missed my min h because I was a 3 minutes late .. she should give the people the name of restaurant and street name so that we can join the group ! Sorry but is was not a good travelling experience with Elisabeth : no she also used the word low cost to describe the two groups the people taking the train and the ones stopping at La spezia ? This word is pejorative (( cinque terre is mom élu

Cinque Terre in one day!
Michelle_D
, Jul 2022
Swimming at one of the towns was the best part of the trip. They gave us just over 2 hours, which was great because most other tours only give you 45mins or so, so you hardly have time to get changed and actually swim.

Antipasti tour of Cinque Terre

, Jul 2022
There were lots of train changes to navigate and get to the meeting points on time but the guide, Elizabet, had everything well planned and easy to follow. This tour is a whistle stop sampler of 5 Terre but there was enough time for a quick swim too. Tiring but nice !

We left Florence on bus and basically took the train to town hope in cinque terre. We visited 4/5 towns. We were not able to take q swim in the beach because we had purchased the lunch ahead of time. Lunch was fabulous and worth it.

Beautiful coastal...

Beautiful coastal villages and fantastic photo opportunities but limited information provided by the guide. The three hours in Monterosso suggested in the itinerary were in fact only two, and all the stops felt rushed. The towns are so busy there was little time to even get a refreshment. Despite this it was well organised and made seeing this area an easy day trip.

Amazing adventure. I do wish that I selected an adventure that allowed us to hike. The guide was very kind and very accommodating to a diverse group of varying abilities. He was very responsible. I wish that he would have shared more about each village rather than things to see and a meet up time. We ended up swimming most spots and finding our own eats and shopping. They all became the same and I wish that I learned the history or uniqueness. This tour was only taking trains and a boat.

Late bus
Brittany_H
, Jun 2022
We went on the bus there and back from Florence and did our own tour just paid for bus there, but the bus was 30 minutes late on the way back with no tour guide or anyone no one called to notify they were going to be late we had to wait outside in the heat for 30 minutes for the bus back would of rather figured out our own transport or even booked a bnb there for a night instead.

Great beautiful visit, lots of walking

This was a great trip. Cinque terre is beautiful. I appreciated the free time in each spot. The lunch was good but I would have stopped at a cafe and had more time to swim because there’s the best beach there. Jacopo was very good. The tour is very big!! We brought walking shoes and sandals which was good because there’s lots of walking. I’ve learned the Viator app has VERY truncated explanations as to what to expect. Always check the actual website first! In the first town, all the restaurants were closed by the sea until 12, but we were able to find a delicious breakfast up the hill.

Too much in too little time
ALINE_F
, Jun 2022
The first two villages are great. I would suggest more time in Manarola and Monterosso so we could enjoy more the swimming part of the tour. The two last villages (Vernazza and Riomaggiore) are too small, incredibly crowded and hot (no place to sit anywhere!! No shadow!!! and nothing much to do... really... fine to see through a picture... we had to push to get in the train in the way back... not nice...). Also, the bus that took us from Florence to the train station in Spezia did not stop for toilet time in the 2h15 minutes of the journey. Really bad cause I was there in the meeting point 15 minutes before... More than 2h30 without the possibility to go to the toilet.. Think about it!!!!

Communication is key and this was lacking. However, Cinque terre was great on our own.

We did transportation only and were instructed to return by 5, when the bus would leave. The large group with guide did not return until 5:30 with no explanation or apology. Instruction for what food was allowed on the bus was not given before people bought food and were then told they couldnt bring it on the bus. Alcohol and coffee were not allowed on the bus. Not sure why coffee was prohibited. Bus driver, Giseppe was very cranky.

Great way to see the entire area

Overall a great tour. Only downside is description states about 45 minute boat ride. It was no where close. 15 minutes max. Nice change instead of train, but beware if you're looking for a 45 min boat ride. Trains are packed since there were 2 full bus loads on our day. Quick rides but need to squeeze on. I followed the agenda in the description in case I got separated (they moved 2 stops around so be careful but just ask). They don't really wait for you in between which is great as it holds up the entire group and if you miss a train/boat it is about 30 minutes more waiting. Nice to not wait and let them catch up at end if need be (there is always 1 group/family who is late to all :-). Great way to see the area but not a ton of time at each so if you want more time go on your own. It was a great taste to show me I want to take a train back for a day. Guides were great. They had English and Spanish on the same tour so they did all announcements in each language. I bought the lunch and it was nice. I have tried at least 5 times to upload photos and it will not from mobile :-(

Better to go on your own
NORMAN_R
, Jun 2022
All this tour did was bring us to the 5 towns in Cinque Terre. We were given very little details about any of the towns and were merely told what direction the shopping was, what direction the ocean was and where and when to meet for departure to the next town. We could have easily done this on our own for a lot less expense.

Sara was an excellent tour guide and Luca a fantastic driver. We had a wonderful time exploring the different towns and beaches. The meal was lovely. If you want more swim time, maybe skip the meal but then purchase your own. Expect ALOT of walking.

Beautiful scenery not so impressed with the tour

, Jun 2022
My first trip was cancelled for no apparent reason, so I rebooked since my daughter wanted to go and so did I. I paid for the English tour guide, and that definitely was not worth the money. At one point she told us to Get on one train and she did not get on. She really didn’t give much information at all and it felt disjointed, and not organized. She had no real way of knowing if everyone even got on the train, I only saw her take attendance twice. The scenery was beautiful and I met some nice people. But, I would be very hesitant in taking another tour that I could have navigated through on my own.

Trip to the 5 terre
shravan_k
, Jun 2022
It was a well organised tour. The guide gave us an overview of each village and we were left to explore each place by ourselves. A little on the expensive side given that they only transport you from place to place but I guess that's the price of convenience. Overall good.
