The Basics

According to Catholic doctrine, after the crucifixion of Jesus, St. John brought Mary to Ephesus with him to escape persecution for years 37-45 CE. She could very well have made this her home. Every day, Lazarist Fathers conduct mass at the 6th-century chapel inside.xa0 Full-day tours that include the house typically leave from Kusadasi and combine visits to the UNESCO-listed sites of Ephesus where you learn about 2000-year-old structures such as the Parliament House, Temple of Domitian, Memmius Monument, Heracles Gate, the Temple of Artemis, Selcuk Turkey, and Temple of Artemis.

Stunning Ephesus and best Carpet Weaving Experience Ever!
This was one of the best shore excursions I have been on. Eskendar was an awesome guide and Ephesus was absolutely stunning, not to mention the private carpet weaving tour and seeing the process of how silk is unraveled and spun. A private demonstration of award-winning carpets was fantastic and the private lunch was delicious. Loved every stop and every aspect of this private tour.

Ephesus Tour with Virgin Mary From Izmir All Inclusive
Tour came as advertised. Nazim is a fantastic guide. We had excellent discussions about Turkey and it's evolution to today. The bus is first class. Meal was great. Plenty of breaks along the way. Good mix of personal time and guided touring. Gezenthi Travel is a safe bet. They are extremely responsive.

Private Full Day Ephesus, The House of Virgin Mary, St John, Artemission Temple
Absolutely amazing tour. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but these guys made this stop on our cruise the absolute best of all ports. The tour of Ephesus and House of the Virgin Mary was phenomenal. The lunch spot they chose was authentic Turkish cuisine, and one of the best meals I've ever had. I highly recommend this tour.

Daily Trip to House of Virgin Mary, Ancient City of Ephesus, Basilica of St.John
The House of the Virgin Mary is awe inspiring. Ephesus is incredible. However there is no shade. You need to bring a hat as that stop takes 90 minutes. Our tour guide was terrific and knew a ton of history.

Our guide, Mehmet, was incredibly knowledgeable. If you want to learn about the ancient site of Ephesus, you must go with a guide. And make sure you visit the rug coop. The array of beautiful carpets was mesmerizing.

PRIVATE Ephesus and The House of Virgin Mary Tour
I’m so happy I booked this trip. Our guide Sardar met us at the port. He was kind and funny and very knowledgeable about history and architecture. The most important part, this trip was private so Sardar made sure to accommodate our needs and wants and also put a lot of interesting information in our heads. Also, I would like to mention that the car was very nice and comfortable.
