New Orleans School of Cooking

Mon-Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 9am-4pm
524 St Louis St, New Orleans, LA, USA, 70130

The basics

The school offers two types of classes: demonstration classes and hands-on classes. The most popular options are the open demonstration classes where guests sit back and watch an expert chef prepare traditional Cajun or Creole dishes from start to finish, all while serving up tasty tidbits about the history and culture of New Orleans cuisine. During hands-on classes, participants actually chop, sauté, and stir at kitchen stations. With either option, guests get to sit down and savor a complete meal after the cooking is done.

New Orleans Demonstration Cooking Class & Meal
We loved our cooking class. Our instructor ( I think her name was Marie) was fabulous! Not only did she explain all the cooking process as she prepared, she added all her knowledge and culture and ties to the Creole people to her demonstration. The staff was attentive and quick to serve and clean our tables as we sampled the dishes prepared. Take this class when you visit New Orleans.! It’s great!

New Orleans Demonstration Cooking Class & Meal
We really enjoyed this demonstration. It's very professionally run in a nice clean kitchen/dining area. She thoroughly explained each step with fun stories along the way. All questions were welcome and completely answered. We learned a lot. Plenty of beverages were served, plus you could get second helpings of any of the foods. Come hungry! Only one thing I didn't like (and it's a quibble) is the sauce on the bread pudding. I prefer something more caramelized.

New Orleans Hands-On Cooking Class & Meal
Very much enjoyed the experience…while we did the cooking the ingredients were portioned and present for ease of use, making the experience less labor intensive than cooking at home. Chef Eric was funny, informative and pleasant. Lastly the finished product was tasty.

New Orleans Hands-On Cooking Class & Meal
The amazing Chef Eric taught ten of us to cook a delicious Andouille Sausage and Chicken Gumbo, BBQ shrimp w/ Cheese Grits and Bananas Foster w/ white/red wine, beer, lemonade or tea. It was a fabulous experience hearing about the history and culture of food in New Orleans while sharing dinner w/ wonderful people from all over the U.S. I highly recommend taking this class!
